The CDARC of Cleveland will be hosting a Yaesu System Fusion Digital Training event on February 5th at approximately 11:00 AM
The location will be at Agave Restaurant in Cleveland Tx. We can get in at 10:45 to start setting up.
Terry Holcomb Sr. KG5ENK, N5BSB, and maybe another surprise guest will be providing the training.
We will try to have a full line up of all the popular Yaesu digital radios. FT-1D, FT-2D, FT-3D, FT-5D,
Mobile radios, FTM-100, FTM-300, FTM-400
And FT-991A
We will have a working Wires-X node, and a pi-star access bridge. We will try to cover all the different ways to access the Wires-X network, rooms, repeaters etc.
The goal of this event is to help people understand in simple terms the hardware, and software and different terminologies used. We want to give people hands on access to the radios, this is a great way to make your buying decisions. We hope to answer as many questions as we can. We are by no means experts, and we don't know everything. We do however have a good deal of experience, and access to Yaesu technical staff if needed.
The Eastside Amateur Radio Service will be supporting the Baytown Blue Santa toy drive again this year. On Saturday December 11th we will be meeting at David NE5TX home QTH to receive toys. We will be joined by KI5JML Monty and his friends in Texas Gulf Coast Trikers club. Last year they really made a showing and dropped off a whole bunch of toys for the kids. You can arrive as early as 10am and we expect to eat and fellowship for several hours. There will be plenty of great food so come hungry….you are welcome to bring any dish you wish. Please plan to come out and meet with a lot of great HAMS and some really nice members of the Texas Gulf Coast Trikers club.
If you have any questions please contact Lamar KC5AOI @ 832-472-7474 or via email KC5AOI@gmail.com. Lamar is the driving force within the EARS club for this great event and has been active for a number of years. The address for the event is 10539 Eagle Drive, Mont Belvieu, Texas. 2021 TQP IS COMING SOON
Time to make sure the mobile is ready for the road and to plan your route! As in the past, prepare your ROUTE in the form of a list of the counties you plan to visit and the day you will be there. It is important to include your operating mode (CWOnly, SSBOnly, MIXed). Route plans need not be detailed - all Chuck NO5W needs is a text file listing the operating mode with the counties you plan to be in and in the order you will pass through them if that is more convenient. The listings do not need crossing times, and in fact, these slow processing to strip them out.
If you are operating both days, there should be two lists, one list for each day. You can list the counties in an email if that is more convenient. If you are not operating as a rover, send Chuck an email with the county you will operate from and your call.
These are examples of the suggested (not required) formats for submissions.
Mobile operators:
NO5W/m(SAT-MIX)=Burnet,Llano,SanSaba,Lampasas,Mills,Hamilton
NO5W/m(SUN-MIX)=Brazoria,Matagorda,Jackson,Calhoun
Fixed operators:
K5OT(SAT-CWO)=Williamson
K5OT(SUN-CWO)=Williamson
Send the lists to routes@txqp.net. Click on the link, attach your list or lists, type a brief note to Chuck if you like, then click send. Simple and quick. Check back here in a few days to verify that your route has been received. To do so, visit 2021 Routes to verify that your route has been received.
If you have additional information such as a schedule of times when you expect to be in each county please do not include it in your lists. Send them to logs@txqp.net or no5w.chuck@gmail.com as a separate document. This will be included as additional information on the routes page.
Please send your routes as EARLY as possible. Chuck needs time to process the lists, as well as prepare for the contest.
NOTE: Routes received during the final week before the contest (September 6 to September 11) may not get posted before the contest starts. This does not mean you cannot participate or affect your score. See below.
IMPORTANT: you do not have to submit a route in order to participate. Having your route listed is a service to help you make more contacts but is NOT a requirement to enter the contest. To participate in the contest, you must:
There are no fees or entry forms. Just get on the air and have a good time!

The Club wants to ensure the safety and health of all participants; to that end, we request abstaining if anyone in your party has interacted with anyone diagnosed with COVID, and/or has a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more. Masks will be required by all participants if COVID-19 Regulations still mandate (please abstain if this is inconvenient). There will be a limit on total number of participants in the Main Hall to assist with social distancing if COVID-19 Regulations still Mandate. As participants exit we will allow more to enter.
We will update this information as we progress near the actual Hamfest Dates, it is our hope and prayers to have a great and safe HamFest in these difficult times we are living with these days.
We look forward to seeing you and meeting you this summer,

Next Sale 3-13-21 Rain or Shine
Starting in March MTC is doing a sidewalk sale every second Saturday. We plan on doing this in March, April and May From 7:00AM to Noon. It will be lots of fun. Get here early. If you have items to sell we will have free tailgating and you are more than welcome to Buy sell and trade right here for FREE!. Of course if you do not want to tailgate you already know that we will buy or trade for your Used Ham Gear and electronics.
There will be store wide discounts on new and used items. Bring Cash, Check, Credit cards, trade ins and get here for some once a month crazy deals. We will always have a special product or two that we will be blowing out at ridiculously low prices.
We have limited tailgate spots available. You must call us to reserve. Without a reservation you may not be able to get a spot. We will tailgate behind the store, on the side and even out front.
Selling starts early at 7:00AM or before outside. The actual store will not open until 8:00AM. We close at 1:00 on Saturdays. Major Door prizes will be given away at 11:00 AM. No Purchase necessary to win.
Spend the morning in Paris. Next Sale March 13 . We cant wait to see you!
Watch the weather. This time of year you never know. If there is a chance of rain you are more than welcome to bring a canopy, tarps or anything else. The sale will still happen. Since this is not one of our big blowouts we will not have the tents set up with merchandise outside
Please keep in mind that this is not like our other events that we have had in the past. It is a tailgate sale. We will probably not have the stage, music, manufacturers and the big blowout that we have had at our annual events.
Not interested in buying and selling? It's OK. Bring a chair and just hang out a while and meet with others from the area.
While you are here in Paris please feel free to use KI5DX 444.475 repeater. It is analog and C4FM and is also connected to WiresX and Echolink.
We do have a few Rules
1. Have Fun.
2. Please leave parking around the Pizza Place next door open during their business hours. They open at 10:00AM
3. If possible, park across the street in the big parking lot to allow room for the tailgaters and folks that that need to park close.
4. Keep in mind our store is pretty small. Please use common sense and not pack the store with dozens of folks at one time. There will be plenty of time for people to come in and look around.
5. Masks, If you want to wear one , please do. If you don't want to wear one, please don't. Just be safe, respectful of others and use common sense.
6. Please take pictures, tell your friends, check in and post on social media. Help us spread the word. #MTCtailgate #MTCradio

The second annual Baytown Hamfest is a wrap! The support from the ham radio community was amazing. The Eastside Amateur Service Radio Club really stepped up to the plate to promote Amateur radio and our great hobby as a whole. So much work goes into making an event like this happen but most of the credit goes to the fine folks that showed up. All of us in the EARS club sincerely thank you. Hope to see you next year!!
